What happened

Bike was left at 8am on Wells across the street from Merchandise Mart. I came out at 11:50 and the cable had been cut and the u-lock was left around the bike rack. Strange thing was that the cable had been cut in the middle but not on the loops which had been put through the u-lock itself. so why weren't they cut? Also I'm 100% sure it was through tire and frame and then around bike rack withing u-lock plus the cable went around bike frame and into u-lock. So it seems to me they had to either comprimise the u-lock and then shut it back on or sawed through the frame and all to get it for scrap. The person who locks infront of me had someone try to take her tire of a week prior.
