2011 Trek/Gary Fisher Presidio
RecoveredWhat happened
The bike was on my first-floor back deck overnight, which is completely hidden from the street or alley. Bike was last seen about 10PM, 8/7. The helmet was on the handlebars (black Giro Saros), as well as an old, clear 20 oz. water bottle from Mountain Road Cycles bike shop. There is also a white sticker on the bottle. Bike was not locked. My neighbor's bike was also stolen. Someone must have jumped the fence/gate into our backyard, walked up on the deck and simply lifted them.

Recovery notes
On 10/13/14, the former victim recovered the bike and sent the CSBR this email: Yesterday, an individual texted me with a screenshot from a Facebook post on the Chicago bike selling page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/244863329005063/ He said he ran in through the Chicago Stolen Bike Registry and saw my post. That's where he found my number. I went on Facebook and found the post, then messaged the seller that I was interested. Simple as that. I never let on it was my bike, although I had the serial number in front of me. We arranged to meet at the Dunkin donuts at Devon and Kedzie. I arrived 15 mins early, called 911 and we set up the meeting. I pulled into the Dunkin, and he was there. I asked to see the frame and sure enough my serial was etched in the BB. 3 squad cars rolled in seconds behind me. Confirmed serial with police report. They arrested him. He was 19, so it will be a felony theft charge. I have a November court date. If it wasn't for your registry, none of this would've gone down. Thanks again.
