2006 Trek 1000 SL
Recovered
What happened
Bike was locked to bike rack across the street from Galway Arms. Stolen sometime between 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm. Bike rack is on a heavily trafficked corner, but was on the 'odd' side of the bike rack (ie most of the bike were locked on the other side) and must have posed an easy target. No sign of bike after leaving bar at 9:30 except for a the cut cable lock.
Bike details
- Type
- Road Bike
- Color
- Black and Silver with Blue details
- Size
- 54"
- Condition
- Bike was in good condition, minor scratches and paint damage mostly on the underside of frame and some chipping around screw-tightened connections. The bike is normally stored inside and so, except for dirt, the paint was in very good condition for the age. Has mostly factory standard components for the Trek 1000, including the seat, post, handlebars, etc. The wheels are factory-standard Alexrims wheels, but NOT the factory standard bontrager tire (but I can't remember what brand they are...) Some discerning features of the bike, it has the factory-standard non-clip pedels, a small Trek pouch under the rear of the seat, a white Bontrager-brand carbon fiber water bottle cage on the front post brackets, the receiver end of a front-mounted CAT EYE bike light (left side of handlebars) and a black and orange smart phone holder (right side of handle bars). I could only find a blurry photo of it (taken 2 months ago) which does not show some of the accessories, as well included is a stock photo of same model, style, color for clarity of reference.

Recovery notes
On 5/9/2013, the victim writes: "Thanks for the tips. Turns out, the website actually works. Someone bought the bike at the swaporama last weekend at saw it posted on the website and sent me a message. I am happy to say that I have the bike back in my possession. I'm still amazed and so grateful at both the good samaritan and the awesomeness of your website! This is a great service you guys are doing. I am getting in contact with the detective about closing the case, but you guys can take my listing off your website. Another successful recovery. Thanks."
