What happened

Bike was not locked inside individual storage unit in basement of apartment building. Storage unit was locked with a combination padlock. Latch holding padlock to wood frame of storage unit was broken (padlock intact). The basement storage area/laundry room is left unlocked by other residents 50%+ of the time, tho we lock it ourselves. The exterior door shows no sign of being forced open. We rode Monday, 7/23, did not ride Tuesday 7/24, bike was missing early morning of Wednesday, 7/25. Landlord sent an email Monday night saying that on Wednesday, 7/25, they would send scavengers in to clean out any storage locker unused by current residents. I did not receive the email -- my husband only noticed it *after* the bike was gone. His bike, an aluminum ladder, and a window AC were not taken from the unit. Unable to reach the landlord until later today.
