What happened
My bike was in a locked basement of a 2 unit dwelling in a locked yard. In the 45 minutes between when my boyfriend took his bike out to run an errand and returned, the neighbor decided to do laundry and left the basement unlocked and 3 bikes were stollen, mine, an adult mountain bike (yellow Gary Fisher) and a child's bike. Four other bikes were left alone. The yard has a very tall fence with locks on both the street and alley side. The thief entered through one and had to cross the back yard to get to the rear facing, relatively obscured, basement door and somehow make off with 3 bikes of widely varying sizes. I can't imagine that both my bike (a small women's bike with clipless pedals), an adult men's mountain bike, and a child's bike were all ridden off from the scene.
