What happened

As soon as we found the bike missing we reported it to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, in front of which it was parked. The hospital's security told us it was locked to city property, a low rod iron fence surrounding a raised planter, and the city may have taken it. The bike was parked in front of the hospital for an appointment and when we came out from the appointment we found it gone. Officer Lewis, Badge Number 9501, says that the city does not remove bikes and that we should consider it stolen. We have parked the bike in the same location for many appointments and have never had a problem before. This was in broad daylight and there are many people walking by this area. The main lock which locked the rear tire and bike frame to the wrought iron fence was a Kryptonite Lock U New York STD 3000 4X& 500065. This lock also went through a cable that passed through the rear seat, back tire and bike frame. A heavy padlock and an OnGuard Akita #5043 cable also went through the wrought iron fence, the front tire and the front seat.
