Scott Aspect 40
What happened
See related theft report for other bike #191956 2 Scott Aspects (this is my wife's bike, my Aspect 30 was also stolen in the same incident) bikes were chained with 2 combination cable locks to both the parking sign and each other in front of the Fox and Obel near the entrance on Illinois. The parking sign was welded and affixed to the base. Bikes were chained through front wheels, frame, and around pole to other bikes back tire. There were two bke racks- one on each side of the sign with older bikes already locked on them. While in the market (after 20 minutes) I looked out the window and saw several people standing by the bikes- I initially thought they were locking their bikes up, but decided to check on ours- by the time I walked back through the market and out the bistro door, both bikes were gone. The cable locks weren't very thick, I assume they were cut, but don't know as they were taken with the bikes. One of the guys I saw was wearing a hoody and a jean jacket. The other older bikes chained to the rack were still there. There is a park across the street, pretty sure someone was there scoping out the rack. This happened lightening fast on a moderately busy street / business area in front of a business in a nicer part of the city. Gotta believe this rack is cased out - as I see I'm not the first to have a bike poached here. Would love to set up a sting. Attached picture of us on the bikes was taken less than an hour before the theft... Aaaaah!
