Recovery notes

On 5/30/2011 the victim wrote: The bicycle was recovered in Humboldt Park at the corner of Division and Mozart. A friend walking through the park recognized the chopper and called me with information on the kid on the bike and the guys he was with. Me and 3 friends went to recover it, without physical incident, from the people in possession. When asked for proof of ownership by those with the bike, I asked the guy if he had a smartphone, which he affirmed, I told him he could look up the listing on stolenbike.org, He claimed he had no idea how to access the internet on his phone, so I called the police and told the guy we could have the police look it up. When faced with being charged with either possession of stolen goods, or theft of lost possessions, he handed the bike over. All of this went down in front of the (Omitted by Admin) bike club, who know me (and the bike) and totally had our backs during its recovery. Thanks for providing such a great resource.
