Recovery notes

On 6/22/2013 we were informed by a Working Bikes Cooperative volunteer that this bike crossed their hands and they were able to use the Chicago Stolen Bicycle Registry to identify the owner, who now has the bike back. On 6/25/2013 the victim, when asked how the bike fared over its 4 year journey, responded: The condition is nearly identical to when I lost it in 2009. Both wheels were in nearly perfect condition, chain still good, same tires still on it in great condition. Even the American flag sticker I put on it was still there. The only thing that is worse than before it was stolen is the paint job, probably because it was thrown around for a few years on top of other stolen bikes. I don't know why they didn't tear it apart and sell it in pieces, I guess that was too much work. Everyone at Workingbikes was astonished that I got it back at all, and were even more impressed with the condition. After spending a couple hours working on it at working bikes, it is now in better condition than before it was stolen, if you can believe that.
